The weather has started to warm up, and for Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation, that means the start of some incredible community fundraising events. The Rankin Cancer Run (virtual), the 16th Annual Nitsopoulos Charity Golf Tournament (June), and the 25th Annual Rob Petruniak Golf Tournament (July) are all supporting patient care needs at HDS. For those of you I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting, I’d like to introduce myself. I have been a healthcare fundraising professional for more than 15 years, joining the HDS Foundation team in 2018. In the past six years I have met incredible individuals and community groups who are passionate about making a difference for the thousands of patients across Niagara who receive care at HDS. I have witnessed first hand the difference their donations have made by funding programs (Parkinson’s and Cancer Rehab), improvements to treatment areas (like our new accessible Sound Booth), and bringing state-of-the-art equipment (like BITS) to our rehab hospital.
I stepped into the role of Interim Executive Director in March and I’m thrilled to be leading the Foundation through an exciting year of growth!
