At Hotel Dieu Shaver, our mission has always been to restore health, rebuild lives, and renew hope. For nearly a century, our teams have provided rehabilitation care in the same facility — originally built in 1930.
Now, we are embarking on the most transformational project in our history: building a new hospital, three times the size of our current inpatient facility.

A Project Timeline Update:
It is with great pleasure that I share an important milestone in Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital’s Capital Expansion journey: our Functional Program has officially been submitted to the Ontario Ministry of Health.
A Functional Program is a detailed blueprint of how our future hospital will operate. It outlines the programs and services we will provide, how care will be delivered, the spaces required to support that care, and the infrastructure needed to bring it all together. In short, it translates our vision for patient care into a plan for the new hospital.
This submission marks our entry into the final stage of the Ministry’s Early Planning phase. The next step will move us into the Design stage, bringing us closer to realizing this vision.
We are proud to have submitted a strong and thoughtful Functional Program, one that clearly demonstrates the spaces, features, and investments needed to support exceptional care, now and into the future.
The Ministry will now undertake a detailed review of our submission to ensure alignment with provincial priorities and to confirm support for our proposed programs and infrastructure.
